COVID-19

Amidst the chaos of working at home, homeschooling the kids, and a lack of toilet paper on the shelves at the grocery store, this is honestly the perfect situation to teach your little ones about nutrition and food safety.

Instead of shoving a frozen pizza in the oven and calling it lunch, you now have an opportunity to show your kiddos how you make their lunches and why you put the ingredients in them to help them grow up to be strong. (If you normally pack them lunch)

Now that school’s are closed and you can’t pack them lunch… they might’ve had a schedule of meals that the school creates, boom- you don't even have to be creative now because someone else already made it for you. Let your family pick some meals from the schedule throughout the next few weeks and get them to HELP you in the kitchen.

During this time you will be able to teach your kids correct hand washing techniques and proper food handling techniques. Before going over how to correctly wash their hands or wash food, ask your children if they can show you how they wash their hands to see where they’re at hygienically. If they could use some work in that department you can explain to them how long to wash their hands and why they are doing it.

Keep in mind that properly washing your hands kills more germs than any antibacterial hand sanitizer will. Most people have the misconception that hand sanitizer does the same job as normal handwashing but it does not. So be sure to lather up your hands with some soapy suds and water to help fight COVID-19.
