What’s holding you back?

Are you getting in your own way?

There are probably a number of reasons you haven’t gotten to your goals yet. But let’s be honest with ourselves, reasons are just excuses in a cuter dress. With that being said- life does still happen and it can throw us off track every now and then. What’s important is that you plan ahead for the occasional set back.

You might go into the beginning of the week with the best of intentions but intentions alone won’t achieve your goals.

Distractions

It’s important to take time and figure out what events could interfere with you reaching your goals. Did someone bring your favorite donuts to the office? Is your friend celebrating a birthday Friday night which usually means drinks and cake? Remembering that these things will come up, but knowing that you don’t have to derail your progress by attending these events or eating foods that are not nutrient dense, but eating them in moderation is key for long term success.

Relapse

When you first start making changes in your life style it’s important to remember that setbacks are a normal part of the process and they will without a doubt happen. Instead of beating yourself up when you do have a setback, figure out the best way to handle it. This is also part of the goal setting process. By having a plan to counter your setback you are preparing yourself for a chance of continued success.

Habits

“It takes 12 weeks to develop and set a habit. Not 21 days.”

Creating a new habit takes some time. So what that means is you need to be patient with yourself. Committing yourself to starting something new can be difficult but know that with some work, it can be done.
